The title of this book caught my eye straight away and it's been a very motivational and inspiring read. The quote at the beginning of this post is just one of many wise words from very wise people. Sharma's book contains a challenging reading list and I am not quite sure where to start yet but I was very happy to find Herman Hesse's Siddhartha among the recommended books. Maybe it's time to read Siddhartha in English for the very first time. I've read it for the first time (in German) when I was 16 and I absolutely loved it, and every time I've picked it up since, I have learned more and gained deeper insight into my inner self - an absolutely fantastic and life changing book.

I think I'll do a series on books I enjoy reading...stay tuned.

Okay, one last but genius one... This is one of the truest measures of a person of strong character.

Life's Wisdom

I came across an article about the Dalai Lama the other day and the following passage made me think (and agree) about what he has to say about 'the West', people and marriage. It's obvious and most of the time pretty sad that the endless options and choices we have make us more miserable than happy.

"It is fascinating," he says, speaking in slightly stilted English. "In the West, you have bigger homes, yet smaller families; you have endless conveniences - yet you never seem to have any time. You can travel anywhere in the world, yet you don't bother to cross the road to meet your neighbours; you have more food than you could possibly eat, yet that makes women like Heidi miserable."

The West's big problem, he believes, is that people have become too self-absorbed. "I don't think people have become more selfish, but their lives have become easier and that has spoilt them. They have less resilience, they expect more, they constantly compare themselves to others and they have too much choice - which brings no real freedom."

He has lived as a monk since childhood, but the Dalai Lama views marriage as one of the chief ways of finding happiness. "Too many people in the West have given up on marriage. They don't understand that it is about developing a mutual admiration of someone, a deep respect and trust and awareness of another human's needs," he says. "The new easy-come, easy-go relationships give us more freedom - but less contentment."

Earth Hour

So, heute abend wird hier Earth Hour gefeiert - das Licht geht aus um halb 10 und wir haben DEN Blick auf die Stadt. Es wird lecker Dinner gekocht und die Dunkelheit genossen. Macht mit!! Earth Hour, yay!!!

Gut, dass wir im 19. Stock wohnen, sonst wär uns heute Nacht der Keller vollgelaufen...hahaa! Es hat die ganze Nacht geschüttet und tuts immer noch. Hoffentlich wirds nochmal warm.

Gestern zufällig eine Hare Krishna Parade in der Stadt gesehen - farbenfroh und lustig. Life is good. Alle Leute bedanken sich hier wenn sie aus dem Bus aussteigen - makes me smile.
Dieses Wetter ist perfekt fürs Kino - heisser Tip: Limitless mit Bradley Cooper - bissl verrückt wie Crank, aber trotzdem gut.
Später gibts Beef Wellington oder Filet Mignon... lass dich überraschen!

Feuerwerk gabs gestern auch wieder und es hat währendessen nicht geregnet! Danach zum Lindt Café und lecker Schokolade gekauft... ain't life good?!?!

Ach ja, und wieder mal hab ich versucht ein Video vom Feuerwerk hochzuladen, aber es will einfach nicht klappen... what a shame.

Letzte Woche am Sonntag war UFC Fight und Janets Babyshower. Heute ist ihr Sohn "Timothy James" zur Welt gekommen!! Woooohoooo!!! Aaaaalles aaaallles Gute! Freu mich sooo! Die "turtle" ist da und alles ist gut.

Der Rest der Woche war anstrengend, aber gut. Das Wetter spinnt im Moment ein bisschen - warm, kalt, heiss, kalt... mir ist schon arg kalt bei 20 Grad, heute scheint zum Glück wieder die Sonne : ) Awesomeness!!

Haaahhaa! I looove this picture!! Der war einfach der coolste : ) Gestern waren wir dann spontan aufm Rihanna Konzert in der Acer Arena, war ne sehr tolle Show, die Frau rockt!!

Ok, ich weiss wirklich nicht warum dieses Bild verdreht ist... habs vom Telefon runtergeladen, umgedreht und jetzt sowas... naja, ihr wisst ja jetzt wers ist.
Weiter gehts mit "Life in pictures" und hoffentlich mit wenig verdrehten Bildern, denn die meisten hab ich mit dem Handy gemacht... enjoyy!
